A Glamour Photo Shoot is the perfect way to help find YOU again! Congratulations to passionate and kind-hearted Sharon who had her very own Transformation Portrait recently! If you think that Sharon deserves to win the Transform Me competition then there are a number of ways that you can help her to gain votes! See the bottom of this page!
Age range: 46 to 55
Relationship status: Divorced
How many Children: Two
What was your original reason for doing a Transformation Portrait?
I wanted to find me again…there’s a person in there that loves to have fun, she’s been hiding for many years!
What were your original expectations or thoughts or concerns about this shoot beforehand?
Anxiety, fear of being static, doing the “Pose” thing! I was not comfortable in my skin so I wasn’t sure how I could create beautiful images.
What were you most surprised about with the Transformation Portrait process?
The fun! After that initial 30 minutes of “working out” how to move and hold myself it was fun…specially the James Dean bit 🙂
What was the theme for your Portrait session?
I had several thoughts on theme, I wanted the cheeky, saucy 1950s look, prim and proper on the outside but underneath – sexy stockings and suspenders! I wanted a Celtic look, I believe in the Pagan ways and wanted to recreate that. Finally – a tree! Louise gave me the idea for the tree after seeing my tattoo that is a memorial to my brother, he had beautiful bonsai trees, and so the gorgeous tree then evolved. Who would know that is my dingy dining room wall!!!
What props, clothing, accessories did you use?
50s glamour and bling, crystal bracelets, pearls, full 50s swing dress and petticoat, with black stockings, suspenders and stilettos.
What was it like being in front of the camera? with posing etc?
It felt very awkward at first. I had memories of a LONG ago wedding and smiling, and smiling, and smiling…this was nothing like that. The posing felt really odd at first but it very quickly became second nature, I was remembering what to do before Louise reminded me.
What was the biggest thing you learnt about yourself from doing this type of Portrait session?
I am still in there! One thing Louise said to me was “I wish I could bottle that feeling you have after the shoot!” I keep hold of that feeling, it’s a euphoria, a feeling of having had a lot of fun and felt really good about it.
What was Louise like to work with before and during your portrait session?
Louise was wonderful to work with. She made me feel very relaxed, we laughed and joked…and I felt no pressure to “perform” as a model. We had a lot of laughs, and a great 3 hours.
What would you say to women who use a number of reasons why they would never do a portrait session like this for themselves? (ie. I’m not photogenic enough…..I need to lose more weight…..I could never look like ‘that’…..)
To those people I would say, just give it a go! I know for my height, bone structure and health that I am carrying too much weight, I feel it round my middle…as all women do. BUT, just look at my photos! I look like a real woman…I have curves, and bumps but damn they’re good photos! Just give it a try…you will have a ball and the end result will be magnificent keepsakes like I have…can’t wait to see the full set of photos from the shoot, so many other themes yet for me to see!!!
Anything else you would like to say about your experience?
The Transform Me experience was pure magic. It made me feel alive, made me feel beautiful, made me see that cheeky Shazz is STILL in there, I have to stop locking her away and let her have free reign. The photos will be life long memories for me, and they will form a solid part of my family history (I’m a Genealogist). No matter who comes 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th…we will all have these gorgeous pictures, and the memory of the fun we had with Louise.
